One configuration, every environment.
Define your process once and run it unchanged across DEV, UAT and production. JOX manages servers, databases and variables per environment while the process definition stays identical.
JOX brings order to IT processes — from a single scheduled job to enterprise-wide pipelines across servers, databases, and sites. One process. Every environment. Fully traceable.

Jobs wait on one another or run in parallel, optionally in multiple instances. The critical path is visible, and individual sub-chains can be replayed on demand, without re-running the whole workflow.
Proven connectors for the JOX repository and for job targets; new ones can be added on demand. JOX talks to the database directly. No sqlplus, psql or other client tool needs to be installed on the application servers. And more: JOX server processes coordinate through the database — no message broker, no cluster manager, no service mesh. One moving part less than most workflow orchestrators.
Every run is captured with status, timestamp and complete output — for OS jobs right down to the last environment variable. Completed runs can be moved into the archive automatically after a configured retention period: historical data stays available indefinitely while the live system stays fast.
JOX was born in 2001 from a real billing-automation challenge at Talkline GmbH. What started as a concrete project grew into an independent platform for job scheduling and workflow automation.
Over twenty years later, JOX runs at freenet DLS GmbH, the successor to Talkline's IT operations, and in further projects across industries and data centres. The platform is under continuous development: new features grow out of real project requirements.
Architecturally, JOX consists of a central repository and distributed server processes that coordinate through the database — control, status and results flow transactionally through the repository. One source of truth, many autonomous execution nodes.
With JOX we have an extremely reliable scheduler with deterministic results. The historization of processes and outcomes leaves our auditors more than satisfied. We use it successfully for small routine tasks, extensive daily processing runs, and even a migration of a billing system.
Through automation we have achieved 24×7 operations without growing the team. With JOX, every billrun is planned, executed and monitored like a project.
JOX runs today at freenet DLS GmbH and in further projects. Read the customer story →
